ADANI Ports turned out to be the sole bidder for the Rs 4,089-crore Vizhinjam port project as the extended deadline of April 24 passed. The previous February 20 attempt to find a developer for the port project failed due to lack of interest with no bids coming in.
Adani’s tender will be examined by a panel comprising the Joint Secretary of the Ports Department, Kerala and the Managing Director and Secretary of the company. Recommendations will then be forwarded to an empowered committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary. This will be further reviewed by a board chaired by the Kerala Chief Minister and the final decision will be taken by the State Cabinet, sources said.
