Maharashtra to concentrate on water transport development, will develop ports: CM

The Maharashtra government intends developing a number of ports, both small and big, and would connect them by rail and road to strengthen the transport network in the state, the Chief Minister, Mr Devendra Fadnavis, stressed.

Speaking at a recent event here, Mr Fadnavis said that his government was aggressively developing ports and focusing on the growth of water transport.

The Union Railway Minister, Mr Suresh Prabhu, who also spoke on the occasion, said, “We are planning to develop a large number of ports through joint ventures and public-private partnership (PPP) model. And to make that happen faster, we have decided to come out with a new model concession agreement.”
