The public sector gas utility company, GAIL (India) Ltd, has reiterated that it will suspend imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Dabhol terminal with immediate effect as it would become difficult to operate during the monsoon in absence of breakwater, a massive wall built into the sea to protect a vessel from the turbulence of sea.

GAIL (I), which received the last LNG shipment from Spain’s Gas Natural at Dabhol recently, would now stop taking deliveries and re-start imports only in October once the monsoon withdraws, it added.
