Kandla Port Trust (KPT) has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the appointment of advisors to develop a Smart Industrial Port City (SIPC) near the Port. This is in tune with the government’s ambitious plan to have a smart city around each of the country’s Major Ports.

According to a KPT communiqué, the RFP, with detailed scope of work and the terms and conditions, is available on its website. The last date for submission is June 24, 2015.

Interested parties can also contact the Executive Engineer (Construction), KPT said.

It has been reported that the first such smart city would be coming up near Kandla Port in a few years time.

“Each Major Port will construct one smart city with an expenditure of Rs 3,000-4,000 crore. These will be green smart cities and you will see all these complete in five years,” Mr Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, had said recently.
